CSI Codes
CSI codes are a standardized classification system used in the construction industry to organize detailed information about construction materials, products, and activities on a project.
The CSI Codes app allows you to upload the CSI codes used in your project and reference them in other applications. You can import the codes or add them manually.
Key things to know about the CSI codes app:
-
CSI Codes are entered per project. They are not inherited down through the hierarchy.
-
CSI Codes can be imported or entered manually.
-
If imported, you can create a "parent" structure, so codes are organized by division.
-
They can be referenced in multiple applications, such as Submittals, RFIs, and Punch List.

How to . . .
The general process for performing an import is to first generate an export of an existing record to access the correctly formatted spreadsheet file for the import.
Once the exported file is available, add the appropriate values for the records you want to import to the exported spreadsheet. You can then import those records. For more detailed information on the importing process, refer to Importing records.
Note Consider adding a single record prior to completing the export. This will assist you in seeing what values appear in what columns.
CSI Codes can be imported as a flat file, or organized by division. If desired, you can use the Parent and Parent_ReferenceColumn in the import file to reference the appropriate division for each code.
Note the first column is the RowNumber. Enter the RowNumber value for the Division code associated with each CSI code into the Parent field, and enter the value "RowNumber" into the Parent_ReferenceColumn.
Once imported, the CSI codes will be organized by the Division code, as designated by the RowNumber value in the Parent column for an individual record.
Important If you export a set of CSI codes from one project to use on another project, you must clear the values in the RecordKey column prior to completing the import.
To create a new CSI code manually, complete the following steps:
-
Review the header to ensure that you are in the correct project or partition.
-
Navigate to the CSI Codes application (Apps > Index Management > CSI Codes).
