System Requirements

This article contains the system requirements for accessing Kahua through the web host, the desktop host, or the mobile application. For more information on using each of these options, refer to Accessing Kahua.

Note Kahua has the same functionality when accessed through the web host or the desktop host, with the exception that desktop host users also have the ability to sync files from Kahua to their computer and to work offline. The mobile host provides access to Most applications are available on the mobile host. For more information on the differences, refer to The Kahua mobile host.

Review the system requirements for each of the following environments:

The minimum system requirements are as follows:

  • Supported Browsers -

    • Chrome Version 96 or higher * **

    • Edge (Chromium) Version 96 or higher * ***

    • Firefox Version100 or higher *

  • CPU - 2.60 GHz or faster multi-core processor (i5 or higher or AMD equivalent)

  • Memory - 8 GB of RAM minimum; 16 GB of RAM recommended

    Use of other applications may require higher amounts of memory to be on the system.

  • Disk - 5 GB of free hard disk space

    Free hard disk space requirements will vary based on the amount of Kahua data stored locally on the user's system.

  • Bandwidth - 5 Mbps minimum; 10 Mbps recommended

NOTE: Additional CPU, memory, and bandwidth will enhance the experience of streaming data.

Some Kahua features may not be available across all devices and operating systems.

Kahua for Browser runs on WebAssembly and is dependent upon WebAssembly's browser compatibility. WebAssembly's browser support compatibility can be viewed here.

Safari Users: Due to issues in Safari's WebAssembly compatibility, Kahua does not currently support Safari. Web users should use Chrome, Edge, or Firefox to access Kahua.

Mobile Users: Kahua for Browser is not supported on mobile devices. Users with Android or iOS devices should download the application from the respective store. Links are below.

* Kahua for Browser requires a 64-bit browser.

** 32-bit Chrome (or any other 32-bit browser) is not compatible with our host and will not run. Please install and use 64-bit Chrome.

*** Edge with Enhanced Security (either Basic or Strict) is currently not supported. Edge Enhanced Security is a new feature of Edge introduced in Version 111, release date of March 13th, 2023. If you happen to run into this issue, please add kahua.com to the list of domains not enforcing enhanced security. This can be done by an IT team through a Group Policy. For more information, refer to Enhanced Security Browser Settings.

  • Operating System - Windows 11 (recommended) or Windows 10 (version 21H2 or later)

  • CPU - 2 GHz or faster multi-core processor (i5 or higher or AMD equivalent)

  • Memory - 8 GB of RAM minimum; 16 GB of RAM recommended

    Use of other applications may require higher amounts of memory to be on the system.

  • Disk - 5 GB of free hard disk space

    Free hard disk space requirements will vary based on the amount of Kahua data stored locally on the user's system. Utilizing Kahua Local Files, Kahua Offline, or Kahua Snapshot can greatly increase the amount of space needed based on the number of files and amount of data being used by those features.

  • Bandwidth - 5 Mbps minimum; 10 Mbps recommended

The minimum system requirements are as follows:

  • Memory - 6 GB of RAM recommended, for both iOS and Android devices

  • Kahua iOS Host - We support the last two major versions of the iOS operating system. The Kahua iOS host is compatible with iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch. You can download and install the Kahua iOS host from Apple iTunes.

  • Kahua Android Host - We support the last two major version of the Android operating system. The Kahua Android host is compatible with Android phones and tablets. You can download and install the Kahua Android host from Google Play.
