Asset Manager Overview
Once the domain setup is complete in the Asset Definition apps, you can enter data for the asset types that you'll be using in your project, the individual project assets, and if desired, groups of assets in asset systems in the Asset Manager apps.
Note For information on completing the asset definitions in your domain, refer to Asset Definition Overview.
The steps to do so are as follows:
Asset types are a more specific category within asset classes and represent a specific product in that asset class. For example, the asset class of "Security Systems" could include asset types such as "Security cameras", "Motion detectors", and "Control Panels". Asset types can be promoted from the project level to the domain level to be available to other projects in the domain.
You must set up asset types in your project in order to be able to add individual assets. The Asset Manager > Types app is used in a project to create and manage asset types. For more information on asset types, refer to Types.
Assets are the specific physical item of a defined type that is tracked on the project. They are created from asset types that have already been defined and made available to the project. Assets can be promoted from the project level to the domain level to be available to other projects in the domain.
The Assets app in Asset Manager is used to create and manage the physical asset records for a project. You use this app to capture asset details, asset-specific attributes, current condition information, related media, tagged records, and reference files. For more information on setting up assets, refer to Assets.
Asset systems are an optional way to group related assets into a system record. For example, you can create a system for a group of related assets that function together, assign it a location, and link the individual assets that belong to it.
This is done in the Systems app in Asset Manager. For more information, refer to Systems.
